The Dalseong Daegu Contemporary Art Festival is a contemporary art festival held in the Gangjeong area, carrying on the spirit of the 'Daegu Contemporary Art Festival' of the 1970s, when young artists challenged the rigidity of the established art world and engaged in diverse artistic experiments. Gangjeong, the venue of the Dalseong Daegu Contemporary Art Festival, holds significance as the site where, during the '3rd Daegu Contemporary Art Festival' in 1977, Korea's first collective event took place with the largest number of participating artists ever—around 200.
