Citizen Creative Arts Festival Haksan Madang Play Nollae

Haksan Madanggeuk Nollae, which began in 2014, is a representative citizen-created arts festival organized and hosted by Michuhol Haksan Cultural Center in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, where citizens directly create and enjoy original plays. It is a lively madang (open-air performance ground) where residents gather in their neighborhoods to communicate through culture and share creative performances that capture local issues and life stories with their neighbors. The festival has grown into a venue for citizen culture and arts that spans diverse forms of artistic expression, including creative percussion dramas, mask dance dramas, plays, puppet shows, musical dramas, and three-dimensional reading performances. Residents, artists, and related organizations and institutions are working together to foster the growth of community arts and the development of local culture for this resident-led, community-based arts festival created by local residents.
