About this event

Hyochang Park, a green corner of Seoul that locals pass every day, transforms into a special nighttime cultural space where it meets the memory of independence. The 2026 Yongsan National Heritage Night Walk is a nighttime history-and-culture festival built on the history and symbolism of the eight independence patriots enshrined in the park. It links night scenery, performances, exhibitions, guided commentary, and hands-on activities into a varied program of cultural content, so that citizens can experience and enjoy the history of Korea's independence and the value of Hyochang Park up close. In particular, the festival reinterprets the park's singular history and sense of place as contemporary nighttime content, aiming to build nighttime cultural offerings found only in Yongsan-gu and to shape the park into a cultural space where residents and visitors linger over history, culture, and leisure together — a nighttime landmark that represents Yongsan. Rather than a festival completed by one institution or one program, the event aspires to be a community-partnership National Heritage Night Walk, with local public institutions, veterans' affairs and history organizations, culture and arts institutions, schools, universities, civic groups, and the wider community each adding their own content and expertise.
