2026 Wonju Reading Festival 'Books Met on the Street'

The Wonju Reading Festival, which began with the 2022 National Reading Festival of Korea, is a reading-culture festival where people connect through books and share the joy of reading. This year's slogan, 'Books Met on the Street,' carries two wishes: that books and culture can be enjoyed in every corner of the neighborhood — at the small libraries and local bookstores close to daily life rather than inside the library building — and that the main festival, brimming with things to think about, enjoy, watch, and read, becomes a place where anyone can meet and delight in a single book. With talks by authors Yeo So-yeon, Baek Yu-yeon, and Kim Geun-hui, a staged dramatic-reading performance for children, and the colorful performances and hands-on programs waiting at the outdoor library, the festival is a chance to grow a little closer to books.
