About this event
Art Gwangju is the largest international art fair in the Honam region, surveying currents in contemporary art and trends in the art market from Korea and abroad all in one place. It is a venue where galleries, artists, and collectors from home and overseas gather to present their work, discover new artistic value, and exchange ideas, and it serves as a hub of cultural and artistic exchange linking Gwangju and Jeollanam-do with the world of art. The fair is hosted by the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City and organized by the Gwangju Cultural Foundation and the Art Gwangju secretariat.
Art Gwangju 26 brings together about 110 galleries from 12 countries in Korea and abroad, including from the Middle East and Europe, presenting the diverse currents of contemporary art across painting, sculpture, media art, and more. In particular, the Masterpiece Special Exhibition, the Proposal Exhibition, and the Rising Stars Exhibition introduce a broad selection of carefully chosen artworks, works from regional collectors' holdings, and pieces by young artists from Gwangju and Jeollanam-do, expanding the fair's value as an exhibition.
Beyond an art market where works are bought and sold, Art Gwangju aspires to be an international stage of cultural and artistic exchange where the value of art and new creation are discovered and the region meets the world, broadening the foundations of the arts in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do and laying the groundwork for continued growth.
