Commemorating the 400th anniversary of the construction of the Namhansanseong fortress walls, the Gwangju Namhansanseong Cultural Festival — Gwangju City's flagship festival, casting new light on the value of Namhansanseong, where history and culture live and breathe — is held for three days, September 18 to 20, at Namhansanseong Provincial Park. A meaningful occasion to revisit with citizens the historical significance and cultural value of Namhansanseong, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the festival unfolds a rich variety of performances and stage programs harmonizing tradition and modernity, historical experience programs for encountering the fortress's history and culture firsthand, participatory programs for citizens to join and enjoy together, and hands-on art markets.
