Anyang Dance Festival

The Anyang Dance Festival unfolds for three days, September 18 to 20, at Pyeongchon Central Park and Samdeok Park in Anyang. First opened in 2000 as a citizens' festival, over 23 years it has grown beyond an Anyang flagship drawing about 300,000 visitors a year into a leading tourism festival of Gyeonggi-do. A quintessential citizen-participation festival — created by, joined by and watched by citizens — it contributes to forming a community of local artists and nurturing citizens' cultural communities, themed on citizens, people and the living arts of citizens' daily lives. To plant the recognition that even walking and running are 'dance' — the body moving freely in the broadest sense — under the slogan 'Walk, Run, Dance!' it uncovers the movement latent throughout Anyang and the passion for dance, encouraging citizen-artists to unleash their energy and dynamism to the full. It also aims to reinvent itself as Korea's only region-based K-Dance culture and arts festival, where Anyang citizens and visitors alike build a culture of 'dancing together' within the spaces of Anyang and find harmony through dance, culture and the arts.
