About this event
The Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival is Suwon's flagship comprehensive arts festival, reimagining with a modern sensibility King Jeongjo the Great's eight-day royal procession to Hwaseong in 1795. Historic moments recorded in the 'Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongni Uigwe' come alive as performances, parades, experiences and citizen-participation programs across UNESCO World Heritage Hwaseong Fortress and the Hwaseong Haenggung Palace area. The signature 'King Jeongjo's Royal Procession,' Korea's largest royal parade enjoyed by citizens and tourists together, displays the festival's grandeur. By day, visitors enjoy traditional culture experiences and participatory programs; by night, premium performance content set against the beautiful scenery of Hwaseong Fortress — a special festival experience for domestic and international tourists alike.
